Indigenus have collaborated with the world’s top designers to create planters that are art pieces in their own right.

Fernando Mastrangelo

Fernando Mastrangelo makes collectible furniture using crushed glass, coal, silica, salt, and cement. His pieces are organic, textured, earthy, striking and inspired by nature.

We were captivated by his Petra bench and wanted to create a planter that contrasted textured earthiness and rock like structure with clean smooth lines (www.mastrangelo.co)

Yabu Pushelberg

Yabu Pushelberg create moody, atmospheric interiors that are warm, intimate, serene, sophisticated and are at the cutting edge of contemporary and modern interior design.

We were intrigued to co-create a planter that would seamlessly fit into these spaces (www.yabupushelberg.com)

Sebastian Herkner

Sebastian designs contemporary furniture fusing technology with traditional craftsmanship, authentic materials and a curiosity for different cultures to make tactile and original pieces.

We wanted to create a planter that straddled European sensibilities with an original square planter design (www.sebastianherkner.com)

Andile Dyalvane

Andile is one of Africa’s most original and renowned ceramicists. His pieces communicate isiXhosa cultural traditions.

We fell in love with his scarification vases and asked if he could sculpt a pared down trio for us to scale into architectural planters (www.imisoceramics.co.za)

Stefan Antoni and Greg Truen of SAOTA

SAOTA’s buildings (primarily luxury contemporary homes) are all about context, form and the relationship of objects with light and shade.

We were intrigued by how their brutalist, but refined forms might produce something original, but also playful in a planter (www.saota.com)

Haldane Martin

Haldane Martin’s furniture often plays with re-interpreting design ideas using newer technology, bio-mimicry or African/Scandi influences

It was these influences in a purity of form that we were looking for in the minimalist, but grounded and warm planter we created together (www.haldane.co.za)

Laurie Wiid van Heerden

Laurie has the unique ability to be able to combine elements of maximalism and minimalism simultaneously.   He uses chunky curvy proportions and rich earthy materials.  The resulting furniture and objects are clean but not subdued; warm and earthy yet restrained.

After providing him with a brief that was partly ignored, Laurie created one of our most iconic planters combining wood and concrete which is both contemporary and traditional.  The success of the Soma led to the Terra which follows similar principles (www.wiiddesign.co.za)
